On November 23, I stopped by the open house of The Upstairs Boutique at Kiyonna. If you live in Southern California, YOU MUST GO!

The Upstairs Boutique is just that ~ a charming upstairs area above the Kiyonna offices in Anaheim CA. Such a brilliant idea to offer fashionistas an up-close-and-personal look at the clothes we love over at kiyonna.com.

My arrival time was perfect ~ lucky moi got to shop without a crowd. With holiday tunes playing and Kiyonna staffers arranging, moving and scurrying about, I must admit to being overwhelmed. I wanted to look at everything at the same time; just dive right into the clothes, hangers and all! But, common-sense took over and I stopped myself. I was greeted by Janae, Operations Manager for Kiyonna. She explained the layout of the shop: dresses, holiday 'sample' dresses for which they were taking orders, work clothes, tops and sales rack. The best part of the boutique? The HUGE table covered in Spanx! The best invention ever. EVER. But, I digress.

I tried on several items, mostly things I'd seen online. The fabrics are superb, the quality of manufacturing is great. The sizing is pretty true-to-form (unlike LB whose sizing has been skewered). I have my own issues with clothes not fitting properly because I'm taller than average, but most things fit fairly well.

Here's what I got:

Gorgeous polka dot button-down shirt ~ because I'm broader across the shoulders & back, I went up one size in this top. I wore this to work with a burgundy tank and jeans. Would work great with a tank under a suit for a nice layered look.

This stretch poplin wrap shirt. I'm not a huge fan of wrap shirts or dresses because most of them aren't flattering on me; this is because most wraps connect too high on my body - I need the wrap to be lower, not right under my boobs. THIS shirt hits me perfectly! I'm saving this one for a work-related holiday party - black pants or skirt and pearls.

And, finally - the best dress ever. Ever! Would you believe I got a wrap dress?! I did! Again - the wrap connects in the perfect place for my body. The fabric is so comfortable. I wore this to a presentation I had to make in front of over 100 people. With black boots, simple earrings and watch, this drew compliments from my boss's boss! The knit dress has quickly become a favorite of mine. Definitely worth it.
